Er worden op veel locaties EV-oplaadstations geïnstalleerd. Denk aan parkeerterreinen en garages. Daarnaast zorgt de sterke toename van de opwekking van hernieuwbare elektrische energie via windmolens en zonnepanelen voor een aanzienlijke groei van industriële batterijen die in het openbare net worden geplaatst. Hierin wordt de overtollige energie opgevangen en beschikbaar gemaakt voor gebruik buiten de piekuren.
